Rupture comes out of a build-up of tension, a collision, when something is stretched so thin it finally snaps. It is both a destructive moment and one that creates the potential for change. This multi-channel video explores the notion of a society on the brink of change. As things begin to shift and malfunction, tension rises between holding on to a sense of normalcy and realising that what is normal is not in fact in our interests to preserve. It asks the viewer to be guided by a sense of the uncanny to the edge of what we deem rational and peer over it. If we allow ourselves to unravel we can begin to imagine the world anew and in so doing perhaps we may be able to rebuild the world around us. But what does it take to go from imagining things differently to manifesting change? To acting on our ideas?
